Boundary Roasting Co. partners with Agriculture Wellness Ontario to support mental health in the farming community.
(Listowel, Ont., June 2, 2025) – A new partnership between Boundary Roasting Co. and Agriculture Wellness Ontario is offering Ontarians the opportunity to contribute to the positive mental health and well-being of the province’s agricultural community through their morning cup of joe.
Today, Boundary Roasting Co. is unveiling a new coffee called ‘Grounds for Conversation,’ with proceeds of each bag sold going to Agriculture Wellness Ontario (AgWO) programs over the next year, through June 1, 2026. Boundary will donate $1.50 from every 300-gram bag sold, as well as $5 from every one-kilogram unit.
‘Grounds for Conversation’ is a single-origin, medium-roast coffee with tasting notes of toffee and milk chocolate, great for espresso or filter coffees. It’s a Nicaraguan specialty coffee roasted near Listowel, Ont., by farmer and coffee roaster, Arend Haverkamp. It’s sourced from a single farm in Nicaragua by an importer who was raised on a Nicaraguan coffee farm, and is very passionate about supporting a transparent and equitable supply chain.
Boundary Roasting Co. was founded by a couple of "farm kids" who uncovered a passion for roasting specialty coffee and decided to share their obsession with neighbours. The couple farm in the Listowel area and have countless family members and friends who farm or work in the agricultural industry.
"We’ve seen the impact first-hand that farm stress can bring, and want to help make a positive impact on the mental health of Ontarians working in agriculture," said Haverkamp, co-owner of Boundary Roasting Co.
"Supporting AgWO is an easy decision for us,” said Boundary Roasting Co. co-owner Paige Haverkamp. “The AgWO programming targets industry needs that we care about deeply."
“We’re thrilled that Boundary Roasting Co. is donating proceeds from its new ‘Grounds for Conversation’ coffee to our AgWO programs over the next year,” said Camille Quenneville, CEO, Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario Division. “It’s an honour that Boundary thought of us as a beneficiary for this initiative. We’re very thankful for this support and look forward to trying the coffee!”
AgWO is a suite of free programs that focus on mental health and well-being, support and education for the Ontario agricultural community. AgWO is managed by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division, in partnership with other stakeholders in the agricultural community. AgWO’s programs include the Farmer Wellness Initiative, Guardian Network, In the Know, Growth Workshops and the International Agricultural Worker Wellness Program. AgWO is funded in part by the Governments of Canada and Ontario under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), a five-year, federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
